Construction of meaning is developed subjectively, although owns the necessary consensus to configure a common code that makes communication and mental processes possible.

From memos, shopping lists, to language and religions, it is in structures where we find order and stability.

By establishing rigorous systems to categorize & organize food items, dinnerware and the parts of a dissassembled Dvd player, Multiple Ways to Organize Multiple Objects addresses the infinite potential structures to organize everyday life.

Multiple Ways to Organize Multiple Objects plays a fictional scenario where conventional & normalized systems are expanded, collapsed and randomized, making the limits of logical sense and aburdity merge together.

I Wish I Could Be Somewhere Else

Installation by Esteban Orellana
Curated by Elizabeth Underhill

"The notion of utopia as an ideal form of society has seen many different approaches and definitions since Thomas More´s publication in 1516. Historical examples and manifestoes that track the development of the concept of utopia range from Thomas More´s Utopia to Second Life networking, and Robert Owen´s New Harmony commune in Indiana to Jehovah´s witnesses brochures. Nevertheless, these have lead to a conventional gaze; an institutionalized reading of the meaning of the concept, and a simplified synthesis of its representations. "I Wish I Could Be Somewhere Else" focuses on trying to establish a virtual place that collects multiple gazes, updating the concept of utopia. Compiling casual interviews with Parkdale residents on the subject of their ideal place to live, a common ground where individual viewpoints converge forms to create a collective statement, although it is one that remains temporary by definition..."
